Job Description
Location: Houston, TX
I’m partnering with a well-funded start-up homebuilder backed by one of Texas’ premier land developers—an organization with a strong financial foundation and active projects across every major Texas market. This is a high-impact opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller ready to lead all finance and accounting operations and play a key role in building the company’s growth story from the ground up.
The Role
This position calls for a hands-on financial leader who thrives in the world of construction and development. You’ll oversee all aspects of accounting and financial operations, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and insight that drive smart business decisions.
Key responsibilities include:

Overseeing all accounting functions—AP, AR, payroll, job costing, and general ledger

Preparing monthly/quarterly financial statements, cash flow forecasts, and WIP schedules

Managing construction draws, vendor payments, and loan compliance

Partnering with leadership to analyze land acquisitions, pricing, and project profitability

Leading, mentoring, and growing a strong accounting team
What You Bring
-
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)

7+ years of progressive accounting experience, including 3+ years in a Controller or senior finance role

Background in homebuilding, construction, or real estate development

Strong understanding of GAAP, job costing, and construction ERP systems

Proven ability to lead, communicate, and execute with confidence
