Vice President of Finance (Private Homebuilder)
Job Description
Vice President of Finance
Private Residential Homebuilder | Colorado Springs, CO
This is not a ceremonial finance role.
This is a hands-on, sleeves-rolled-up leadership seat with real influence inside a respected, privately held homebuilder at a pivotal moment of transition.
The Vice President of Finance will serve as a trusted strategic partner to ownership and executive leadership, owning the full financial picture — accounting oversight, banking relationships, cash flow strategy, contracts, risk management, and long-term financial planning across the company and its affiliated entities.
The current VP of Finance (CPA) is retiring and will remain actively engaged for approximately one year to ensure a thoughtful, seamless transition. This role is being set up for success — not thrown into the deep end.
What You’ll Actually Do
-
Lead financial planning, forecasting, reporting, and cash flow management
-
Oversee accounting operations and mentor an established internal team
-
Own banking and lender relationships with credibility and confidence
-
Review contracts, loan documents, and insurance requirements
-
Drive risk management, compliance, and financial discipline across multiple entities
-
Partner closely with leadership while staying deeply connected to day-to-day operations
-
A seasoned finance leader from a private, capital-intensive business
-
Strong banking, balance sheet, and cash flow expertise
-
CPA strongly preferred
-
Comfortable being both strategic and hands-on
-
Background in homebuilding, construction, real estate development, or a closely related industry is a plus — not a prerequisite
-
Well-run, stable organization with strong leadership
-
Clear transition plan and institutional knowledge transfer
-
Meaningful influence without corporate bureaucracy
-
Opportunity to shape the future — not just maintain it
This role is ideal for a finance leader who values judgment over flash, relationships over titles, and wants to leave a lasting mark inside a company that takes its work — and its people — seriously.
